Begun in 2006, The United States Collegiate for four years has been college golf's spring major championship at The Golf Club of Georgia. But in 2010 the USCC moves to the fall with tournament rounds Oct. 24-26 on the Club's award-winning Lakeside Course and a practice round on Oct. 23.
Defending Champion Clemson, which also won in 2006, heads a field that includes host Georgia Tech, UCLA, Southern Cal, Washington, 2009 NCAA champion Texas A&M, Florida State, East Tennessee State, Duke, Wake Forest, Virginia, South Carolina, Kent State, Augusta State and Georgia State.
Unique in college golf, the USCC offers caddies for every player, requires long pants for participants and offers PGA Tour-type course conditions. Galleries are able to walk in the fairways behind the players in the style of the U.S. Amateur and Walker Cup.
The USCC crowns Team and Individual Champions, which are honored on the Club's perpetual mahogany, gold and crystal trophy.
Clemson won the 2009 Team Championship by two shots over Stanford. Erik Flores of UCLA and Bud Cauley of Alabama tied for the Individual Championship at 4-under-par 212. Other USCC Team Champions have been Georgia in 2007 and Southern Cal in 2008.
The USCC is televised by Comcast Sports Southeast, which serves 5.9 million households across 12 states.
